London, United Kingdom Apr 30, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - From the frontline of the battle for European democracy, on 8 May (to mark VE Day), Kyiv-based trio Straytones will be releasing a brand new single, (Not OK).
It was written in the aftermath of Putins latest invasion in February 2022. Defiantly sung in Ukrainian to emphasise the group's national identity, Artem's (lead singer's) lyrics reveal the constant stream of injustice, indifference, cynicism, impunity and greed that Ukrainians feel whilst their country remains under attack.
Musically, its tempo reflects the rapid pace of current events, ending in a feeling of suspension and uncertainty about the future.
The date of release is not by accident; it is a riposte to Putin and to the leaders of the Western world. It is a call to reflect. And do the right thing.
In collaboration with 122 Music Management, ' (Not OK)' will be the first single from their forthcoming live LP. It features tracks from their set, recorded as part of the 24:1900 music festival in December 2024.
Together, they plan on manufacturing and releasing this live performance on vinyl. Along with another track, ' (Rain)', the album will contain the first tracks about the invasion of Ukraine to be committed to vinyl, sung in Ukrainian.
Straytones is a psychedelic rock/garage rock band. It's last album was imbued with the spirit of 1960s garage rockers and hippies, and heavily influenced by modern neo-psychedelic vibes.
The band has been compared to The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ty Segall and OH SEES. Yet they add a refreshing touch to create their own distinctive, groovy sound.
